At The Westbourne you will be welcomed by Greg and Angela, who moved to Bowness-on-Windermere in 2025 after many years of visiting the Lake District for short breaks and walking holidays. Their decision to make the area their permanent home came from a genuine love of hospitality and a long standing appreciation for the landscapes, the local communities and the relaxed pace of life.
They have created a guest house where guests can unwind, enjoy the scenery and feel completely at home during your stay.
Experience and a Personal Approach
Before moving to Bowness, Greg worked in the offshore oil and gas industry. The role demanded organisation, consistency and a steady approach to busy days. These qualities now help shape the smooth running of the guest house.
Angela has worked in hospitality since the age of fifteen, beginning in housekeeping and progressing through a variety of roles across the hotel sector. Her experience ranges from food and beverage management in a large hotel and resort to serving as general manager of a smaller independent hotel. This background has given her a deep understanding of guest experience, attention to detail and the importance of creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

The Westbourne is set within a Victorian Lakeland stone property dating back to the late 1800s. Originally built as a private residence, it evolved over time into guest accommodation and continues that tradition today. The character of the building adds to its charm, while ongoing improvements ensure the interior remains fresh, comfortable and ready for each season.
